Q: What is the recommended age of a child to start learning with the Clock?
A: The best age to start is when a child has time related questions, lsuch as “When will we have dinner?”, “When is it cookie time?”, or when a child has problems staying in bed in the morning or going to bed in the evening.  Placing the activity cards of the clock at the right time will help children to understand what will happen and when.  Children from the age of 3 can start playing with the clock. At this age they usually do not understand the numbers as yet, but they do understand that an activity takes place when the character at the hour hand passes the card. Research tells us that children become more sell assured when they understand what is happening when. It’s a Clock! helps children to become self assured.
Q: Is there an alarm function in the Clock?
A: The It’s a Clock! has no alarm nor alarm sound. However, children do learn what time they should wake up. They place the wake-up card at the correct hour with their parents and see how long till they can get out of bed.
Q: Can my child move an activity card when I am not there?
A: It is important to explain to children that activities are linked to hours: for example: “we have dinner at 6 o’clock”, so that children learn the function of a clock. A child can move an activity card to a different time, but they can also learn that the new time is not the correct one. Many children like to play with the clock as if it is a puzzle, asking: “What time will we have lunch?” and place the lunch card at the correct hour.
Q: My Clock fell from the table and the second hand fell off. What should I do?
A: The It's a Clock! is designed so that in normal use the hands will not fall off. However, if the Clock gets a shock, the hands can fall off. A parent can easily open the bulb following the instructions and place the hands back.
Q: Is the clock suitable for children with a handicap?
A: The Clock is used by children with a handicap that are very happy with it. The suitability of the clock depends on the type of handicap. Handicapped children may have special needs related to time. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. We are very interested to hear your ideas.
